Cooking Tips and Tricks

  • Grate and Squeeze: For the zucchini, make sure to grate it finely and then squeeze out the excess water. This will prevent your quiche from becoming too soggy.
  • Cheese Choices: While a standard tasty cheese works wonderfully, feel free to experiment with other cheeses like feta or gouda for a unique flavour twist.
  • Season Well: Don’t skimp on the salt and pepper. These simple seasonings really bring out the flavours of the vegetables.
Pairing Suggestions

This recipe pairs beautifully with a light salad, perhaps one made of mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, and a simple vinaigrette. For a heartier meal, serve it alongside roasted veggies or a bowl of soup. And if you’re hosting a brunch, pair it with some fresh fruit and a glass of chilled sparkling water or a mimosa. 🍷🥗

Why This Recipe Works

The magic of this quiche lies in its simplicity and the harmony of its ingredients. The grated carrot adds a natural sweetness and vibrant colour, while the zucchini keeps it moist and adds a subtle flavour. Potato gives it a bit of substance and heartiness, making it filling without being heavy. Onion adds a savoury depth, and the bacon provides a touch of saltiness and richness. Self-raising flour helps it set and gives it a slight lift, while the eggs bind everything together and provide protein. Cheese adds creaminess and a delicious, melty texture, and the optional tomato slices on top add a lovely pop of colour and freshness.Fruits & Vegetables
