Ingredients

  • 3 onions finely sliced
  • 2 tbsp plain flour
  • 500 ml stock
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp tomato sauce
  • 50 g butter

Method

  1. Cook your onions in a pan over medium heat—the same pan you cooked your meat in will have all those yummy flavours! 🥩 You'll need about 3 tablespoons of fat or oil, so add a bit more if necessary. Be patient with your onions; they need about 10 minutes to become soft and turn a lovely caramel colour. This step is super important for that deep, rich flavour. 🧅
  2. Next, sprinkle in the flour and stir for about 30 seconds. This helps thicken the gravy without getting any lumps. Then, pour in your stock, stirring constantly to keep things smooth. No one wants lumpy gravy, right? 😅
  3. Now, add the tomato sauce and Worcestershire sauce. These two ingredients give your gravy a fantastic tangy kick! Continue to cook until your gravy reaches the thickness you like—whether you prefer it thick and hearty or a bit runny. Finally, stir in the butter until it’s fully melted and everything is silky smooth. Don’t forget to season with salt and pepper to taste. Yum! 🙌
