Dumpling Doughnuts

These dumpling doughnuts are such a fun one when you want all those classic pork dumpling flavours without mucking around with proper dumpling folding. They’re crispy on the outside, juicy in the middle, and the air fryer makes the whole thing nice and easy.

I love these for an easy dinner, lunch boxes or popping onto a platter when you want something a bit different. They look a bit fancy, but they’re actually very doable, which is always my kind of recipe.

Why you’ll love it

These are crispy, juicy and packed with loads of flavour. They’ve got all the good bits of a pork dumpling, but in a fun shape that feels a bit special without being hard work.

Handy tips

Don’t overfill the rice paper or it’ll be harder to roll and seal neatly. A light spray of olive oil helps them go nice and golden in the air fryer, and turning them halfway makes sure both sides crisp up well.

Serving ideas

These are great for dinner, lunch boxes or a party platter. Serve them hot while they’re still crispy, on their own or with your favourite dipping sauce if you like.

Ingredients

  • 500 g pork mince
  • 1.5 cups cabbage
  • 2 green onions
  • 1 tbsp crushed garlic
  • 1 tbsp minced ginger
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1/2 tsp white pepper
  • 1 tbsp chicken stock powder
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • rice paper sheets
  • olive oil spray

Method

  1. Add the pork mince, cabbage, green onions, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, oyster sauce, white pepper, chicken stock powder and breadcrumbs to a large bowl and mix until well combined.
  2. Hold a rice paper sheet under a running cold tap for about 5 seconds, then place it flat on a board.
  3. Add about 2 tablespoons of the dumpling filling in a line along one side of the rice paper, leaving a couple of centimetres at each end so it seals properly.
  4. Roll it up like a log, seal the ends, then bend it into a doughnut shape and seal again.
  5. Repeat with the remaining filling and rice paper sheets.
  6. Place them into the air fryer, give them a light spritz of olive oil and cook at 200°C for around 10 minutes, turning halfway, until golden and crispy on both sides.
