This 2 ingredient flatbread is one of those recipes that feels like a magic trick. Just yoghurt and self-raising flour, no yeast and no waiting, mixed into a dough and cooked in a pan in a few minutes.

It makes three or four flatbreads and they are soft, a little puffy and endlessly useful, for wraps, dipping, mini pizzas, or just warm with butter.

Why You’ll Love It

This one’s so handy. It’s just two ingredients, no yeast and no waiting, cooked in a pan in minutes, soft and endlessly useful, and it’s cheap and quick.

The Shortcut That Makes It Work

Just two ingredients and no yeast, so there is no proving or waiting. You mix yoghurt and self-raising flour into a dough and cook them in a pan in minutes.

Handy Tips

The dough should be soft but not sticky. Add a little more flour if it is sticking. Knead it just until smooth, no need to work it hard. Roll them out evenly, about a quarter inch thick, so they cook through. Cook in a hot pan until golden and a little puffy on each side.

Make It Your Way

Use thick, full-fat yoghurt like Greek yoghurt for the best dough. Low-fat yoghurt makes a drier dough, so you may need a touch less flour. Brush with a little garlic butter as they come off the pan. Stir some chopped herbs or spices through the dough for a flavoured version.

What To Serve With It

Brilliant alongside curries and soups, as wraps, or as a base for quick mini pizzas. Lovely warm with a bit of butter.

How to Store It

Best eaten fresh and warm. Keep leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days and warm them in a pan or toaster before serving.

FAQs

What yoghurt should I use?

Thick, full-fat yoghurt like Greek yoghurt gives the best dough. Low-fat or non-fat yoghurt makes a drier dough, so you may need to adjust the flour slightly.

What if my dough is too sticky or too dry?

If it is sticky, add a little more flour, a tablespoon at a time, until it is soft but manageable. If it is dry and crumbly, add a touch more yoghurt.

What can I use them for?

Wraps, dipping with curries and soups, or as a base for quick mini pizzas. They are lovely warm with butter too.
