Frequently Asked Questions About Microwave Lemon Curd

Can I use fresh prawns instead of frozen ones?

Absolutely! Fresh prawns can be used in this recipe and will add a delightful freshness to the dish. If you’re using fresh prawns, just ensure they are peeled and deveined before adding them to the bake. You might also want to reduce the cooking time slightly since fresh prawns cook faster than frozen ones.

If you don’t have risoni on hand, you can substitute it with other small pasta shapes like orzo or even small macaroni. These types of pasta will have a similar texture and absorb the flavours well. Just make sure to adjust the cooking time as needed, as different pasta shapes may cook at different rates.

To make this dish dairy-free, you can substitute the cream with a non-dairy alternative like coconut cream or a cashew cream. Both will provide a rich and creamy texture without the dairy. Be mindful that using coconut cream may impart a slight coconut flavour to the dish, which can be a delicious twist! Also, ensure that any other ingredients you use, such as chicken stock, are also dairy-free.
