This is one of those little kitchen hacks you will make on repeat. Five pantry staples, one quick mix, and you have a KFC style seasoning that makes home chips taste like the good stuff.
It takes a couple of minutes and keeps in a jar, so it is there whenever you want it. Sprinkle it over hot chips, wedges, popcorn chicken or roast veg and watch it disappear.
Once you have made it once, you will always want a jar in the cupboard.
Why You’ll Love It
It is five pantry ingredients and one stir, so there is nothing to cook and almost nothing to buy. It makes a whole jar, so a couple of minutes of work gives you seasoning that lasts, and it is far cheaper than a shop bought version. Best of all it turns plain oven chips into something everyone fights over.
The Shortcut That Makes It Work
This is the shortcut. Instead of buying a pricey seasoning blend, you mix five things you already have, salt, chicken stock powder, onion powder, garlic powder and paprika, and keep it in a jar. Make it once and it is ready to sprinkle on anything, no cooking involved.
Handy Tips
Make sure everything is well combined so you do not get a salty patch here and a paprika patch there, a quick shake in a jar does the job. Store it in an airtight jar out of the light and it will keep for months. Start with a light sprinkle and add more to taste, it is salty by nature, and it is best added to chips or veg while they are hot so it sticks.
What To Serve With It
It is made for hot chips and wedges, but it is just as good on popcorn chicken, roast potatoes, roast veg, or shaken through a bowl of popcorn.
Leftovers / How to Store It
Store the seasoning in an airtight jar in the pantry, out of direct light, for up to a few months. Give it a shake before each use as the spices can settle.

FAQs
What do you put KFC seasoning on?
Hot chips and wedges are the classic, but it is great on popcorn chicken, roast potatoes, roast veg and even popcorn. Add it while things are hot so it sticks.
How long does it keep?
Stored in an airtight jar out of the light, it keeps for a few months. Give it a shake before each use as the spices settle.
Can I make it less salty?
Yes. Salt is the main ingredient, so reduce it to taste and keep the ratio of the other spices the same. You can always add more when serving.

Simple and flavoursome
It was yummy Steph. I sprinkled it on oven baked potato’s in jackets that gad been rolled in oil first then the seasoning. I gave it in a jar & will be putting this baby on everything! Thanks Steph, love everything you post!
Thanks Narelle. Jackets rolled in oil then the seasoning sounds delicious. Don’t stress about the typos, and I’ve popped your 10/10 on for you. xxx
Far too salty
Hi Lisa, it’s a salty one, made to sprinkle lightly like chicken salt. Halve the salt if you’d like it milder.
