This mixed berry cobbler is about as easy as a warm dessert gets. You whisk a simple batter, pour it over melted butter in a dish, scatter frozen berries on top, and the oven does the rest. The batter rises up around the berries as it bakes.
It makes 12 serves and uses frozen berries, so it is a year-round pudding you can make any time. Lovely warm with cream or ice cream.
Why You’ll Love It
This one’s a go-to dessert. It’s just a handful of ingredients, whisk, pour and bake, it uses frozen berries so you can make it any time, it makes 12 serves, and it’s warm and comforting.
The Shortcut That Makes It Work
Frozen berries mean you can make this any time of year with no prep. The batter is a quick whisk-and-pour, and it makes its own sauce as it bakes, so there is nothing fiddly about it.
Handy Tips
Give the melted butter a swish around the dish before the batter goes in. Scatter the berries over the top of the batter rather than mixing them in. The batter rises up around them as it bakes. It is done when the top is golden and set. Serve it warm for the best texture.
Make It Your Way
Use fresh berries instead of frozen if you like. They release less juice, so add a tablespoon or two of water or juice to keep it moist. Use any frozen fruit you have, not just berries. Serve with cream, ice cream or custard.
How to Store It
Keep leftovers covered in the fridge for up to 3 days. Warm gently before serving. It is best fresh and warm from the oven.

Can I use other fruit?
Yes. Any frozen fruit works, not just berries. Use whatever you have.
What should I serve it with?
Lovely warm with cream, ice cream or custard.

Lovely. Love all your recipes
absolutely amazing
Real good
Wonder if we could use fresh rhubarb in this?
Can any one tell me what size container is used please
Thanks for asking, Wendy. It’s an oven-proof glass baking dish, around the 3 litre size. Something like the 3L glass dish from Kmart is spot on if you’re in Australia, but any oven-proof glass dish around that size will work just fine. Once you’ve given it a go, it would be lovely if you came back and left a star rating to let me know how it turned out.
Is the oven temperature for conventional or fan?
Hi Maria, it’s 180 degrees in fan-forced oven. I’ve updated the recipe. Thanks for asking.
Made this yesterday and took it to my sister in law for lunch. She supplied custard and pouring cream. We all thought it was amazing and so quick to make.
I love this recipe. Have made it with spiced apples too.
