Why Air Fryer Prosciutto Wrapped Chicken Will Be Your New Favourite
Let’s face it: we all have those days when the idea of making dinner sounds like a massive chore. That’s when this Air Fryer Prosciutto Wrapped Chicken comes to the rescue. It’s simple, flavourful, and the air fryer does all the heavy lifting. You get crispy prosciutto on the outside, tender chicken, and molten cheese oozing from the centre. Seriously, what’s not to love? 😍
The best part? It’s a four-ingredient recipe, so you don’t need to fuss around with long shopping lists. All you need are chicken breasts, prosciutto, mozzarella, and a pinch of salt and pepper. And, of course, your trusty air fryer! If you’ve been wondering how to make the most out of your air fryer, this is the perfect dish to get started.
Why Prosciutto Is the Star of This Dish
Prosciutto is one of those ingredients that takes any dish to the next level. Its salty, savoury flavour pairs perfectly with the chicken and mozzarella, giving this recipe that restaurant-quality feel. Unlike bacon, prosciutto crisps up faster, making it ideal for the air fryer. It locks in moisture and adds a delightful crunch with each bite. 😋 Pro tip: opt for thinly sliced prosciutto from your local deli—it works best for wrapping and crisps up beautifully without overpowering the other flavours.
Air Fryer Prosciutto Wrapped Chicken: Tips & Tricks
- Choose the right chicken: Go for free-range chicken breasts if you can. They tend to be juicier and tastier, and trust me, it makes all the difference. If the breasts are on the larger side, make sure to cook them a bit longer in the air fryer. I recommend checking with a meat thermometer to ensure the chicken reaches 75°C (165°F) internally.
- Stuffing the chicken: Don’t overstuff! While it’s tempting to cram all the cheese into the chicken pocket, leaving a little space ensures the prosciutto stays intact and seals in the gooey mozzarella. You don’t want your cheese to leak out during cooking! 🧀
- Air fryer hacks: Every air fryer is a little different, so you might need to adjust cooking times slightly. Start with 15 minutes at 200°C, and if the prosciutto isn’t crispy enough for you, give it another 2–3 minutes.
- Let it rest: Once your chicken is done, let it rest for a couple of minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the chicken, making every bite tender and juicy.

What To Serve with Air Fryer Prosciutto Wrapped Chicken?
Now that your Air Fryer Prosciutto Wrapped Chicken is ready to serve, you’re probably wondering what sides to pair it with. Here are some ideas to round out your meal:
- Steamed veggies: Light, crisp, and a great way to add some greens to your plate. I love pairing this chicken with steamed broccolini or asparagus, drizzled with a little olive oil and lemon juice. 🍋🥦
- Mashed potatoes: Creamy mashed potatoes are the ultimate comfort food and a great complement to the rich, cheesy chicken. Add some roasted garlic to your mash for an extra burst of flavour. 🥔
- Salad: A fresh, zesty salad cuts through the richness of the chicken. Try a simple rocket and parmesan salad with a lemon vinaigrette—easy and delicious! 🥗
Serving & Storing Tips
For a perfect serving, slice the chicken at an angle to show off that cheesy centre. Drizzle those delicious pan juices over the top for even more flavour. This Air Fryer Prosciutto Wrapped Chicken is best served hot, straight out of the air fryer, but you can store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat it in the air fryer to crisp up the prosciutto again—it only takes a few minutes! 🔥
Pairing Suggestions
To complete the experience, I suggest pairing your Air Fryer Prosciutto Wrapped Chicken with a glass of chilled white wine. A Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio works wonderfully with this dish. If you’re more of a red wine lover, try a light Pinot Noir. 🍷

Frequently Asked Questions
Absolutely! While mozzarella is my go-to for its melt factor, you can experiment with other cheeses like cheddar, gouda, or even brie for a creamier twist. Just be mindful that different cheeses may melt more quickly.
No worries! You can bake this dish in the oven at 200°C for about 20–25 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked and the prosciutto is crispy. The air fryer speeds things up, but the oven works just as well.
Yes, you can! Prepare the chicken by stuffing it with mozzarella and wrapping it in prosciutto ahead of time. Store it in the fridge, and when you’re ready to eat, just pop it in the air fryer. It’s great for meal prepping.
