Why You’ll Love This Breakfast Bake

What’s not to love about a dish that’s:

    • Easy to Prepare: Toss everything into one dish and bake. It’s stress-free cooking at its finest.

    • Perfect for Leftovers: Have some extra veggies, ham, or roast potatoes from last night’s dinner? Throw them in!

    • Customisable: Mix and match ingredients to suit your tastes or dietary needs.

    • Meal Prep Friendly: Make it ahead of time and reheat during the busy week.

This Breakfast Bake is ideal for Christmas morning when you’d rather sip coffee and open presents than be stuck in the kitchen. 🎁

Tips and Tricks for the Best Breakfast Bake

Here are my top tips to ensure your Breakfast Bake is the best it can be:

  1. Use Fresh Ingredients: Freshly grated cheese melts better, and crisp veggies add a vibrant texture.

  2. Cook the Bacon Properly: Let the bacon and onions get golden and caramelised in the pan before adding them to the bake. The flavour boost is worth it!

  3. Dice Potatoes Small: If you’re using fresh potatoes, dice them small so they cook evenly. Or better yet, use cooked potatoes for convenience.

  4. Grease the Baking Dish: Trust me, a well-greased dish means no sticking, and cleaning up is a breeze.

  5. Don’t Skip the Cheese: The cheesy topping gets golden and bubbly, making this dish utterly irresistible.

Storage Options

If you’ve got leftovers (which is rare because it’s that good!), here’s how to store your Breakfast Bake:

    • Fridge: Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat slices in the microwave or oven until warm.

    • Freezer: Slice and wrap portions individually in cling film, then place them in a zip-lock bag. Freeze for up to 2 months. To reheat, let it thaw in the fridge overnight and pop it in the oven until warmed through.

Pro Tip: This makes an excellent freezer meal for busy mornings.

Serving and Pairing Suggestions

This Breakfast Bake is a meal on its own, but you can elevate it further by pairing it with:

    • Crusty Bread or Sourdough Toast: Perfect for mopping up any cheesy, eggy goodness.
    • Fresh Salad: A light green salad with a lemon vinaigrette balances the richness of the bake.
    • Avocado or Guacamole: Creamy avocado slices or a dollop of guac add a fresh twist.
    • Hot Sauce: A splash of your favourite hot sauce gives it a spicy kick.
