Thai Chicken Chilli and Basil: Why You’ll Love This Recipe

This Thai Chicken Chilli and Basil dish is everything you need on a busy weeknight – quick, flavourful, and incredibly satisfying. The combination of tender chicken, fresh basil, and spicy red chillies creates a dish that’s bursting with flavour. Plus, the addition of garlic, ginger, and bok choy not only adds a nutritional punch but also enhances the overall taste profile. 🍽️

Tips and Tricks for the Best Thai Chicken Chilli and Basil

  1. Choose the Right Chicken: I recommend using chicken thighs for this recipe as they stay juicy and tender even when cooked quickly. However, chicken breast works just as well if you prefer a leaner option. 🍗
  2. Fresh Ingredients: Fresh garlic, ginger, and basil make a huge difference in the flavour of this dish. Don’t skimp on these aromatics! 🧄🌱
  3. Control the Heat: If you’re not a fan of too much heat, feel free to adjust the amount of red chillies to your liking. You can even deseed them to reduce the spiciness. 🌶️
  4. Sauce Consistency: To get the perfect sauce consistency, mix the cornflour with water before adding it to the pan. This helps avoid any lumps and ensures the sauce thickens nicely. 🍲
  5. Cooking the Chicken: Make sure your pan is hot before adding the chicken to get a nice sear. This locks in the juices and gives the chicken a lovely golden colour. 🔥

Serving and Pairing Suggestions

This Thai Chicken Chilli and Basil is incredibly versatile and can be served with a variety of sides. Here are a few ideas:

    • Steamed Jasmine Rice: The fragrant, fluffy rice pairs perfectly with the spicy, savoury chicken. 🍚
    • Noodles: Stir-fried or boiled noodles are a great alternative to rice and soak up the delicious sauce beautifully. 🍜
    • Asian Greens: Serve with a side of stir-fried or steamed Asian greens like broccoli, snow peas, or more bok choy for added nutrition. 🥦
